Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using BillForge ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Service Description

BillForge provides an online invoice generation tool. The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We offer both a free tier with basic features and a Pro tier with additional features requiring an active subscription via Lemon Squeezy.

3. User Data

Your invoice data is stored locally in your browser's localStorage. We do not maintain a server-side database of your invoice content. Pro users may optionally sync data for cross-device access, which is encrypted and stored securely.

4. User Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for:

  • The accuracy and completeness of all invoices you generate
  • Compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations in your jurisdiction
  • Reviewing all generated invoices before sending them to clients
  • The lawful use of the Service

BillForge is a tool to assist with invoice creation. We do not provide accounting, tax, or legal advice.

5. Pro Subscription

Pro features require an active monthly subscription managed through Lemon Squeezy. Subscription terms include:

  • Access to Pro features is contingent on an active, paid subscription
  • Billing is handled by Lemon Squeezy, our payment processor
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Lemon Squeezy customer portal
  • Upon cancellation, you retain access until the end of your current billing period
  • Refunds are subject to our Refund Policy

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purposes
  • Generate fraudulent or misleading invoices
  • Attempt to circumvent any security features or access restrictions
  • Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our infrastructure
  • Engage in any form of abuse, harassment, or spam

7. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without prior notice, for violation of these Terms or for abusive behavior. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • BillForge is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied
  • We are not liable for any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in generated invoices or PDFs
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months

Always review your invoices carefully before sending them to clients.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting a notice on our website. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Intellectual Property

BillForge and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by BillForge and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
